Food and shelter are the simplest of our offerings.
We propose something far more important: opportunity.
While residents at the Open Hearth, our men will learn how to navigate a job application on-line, be taught OSHA-standard safety practices for production and assembly work, have the opportunity to attend in and out-of-house 12 Step Recovery meetings, and be able to develop a relationship with Counselors and Employment staff. All will complete a resume; all will be guided and encouraged to pursue employment, school or vocational training. Whether transitioning to us from incarceration or the street, we insist that our men understand and validate their potential as sober men; as family men; as working men. Not coincidentally, word on the park bench or prison cafeteria is that the Open Hearth is the place to begin their journey back.
